The homes
A town built for the dam, and kept small on purpose
Boulder City was laid out by the federal government in 1931 to house the workers building Hoover Dam, and its historic core is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Around it sit 1940s and 1950s homes, ranch houses from the 1960s to the 1990s, and a limited number of newer homes, because the city has limited residential growth by ordinance since 1979. So a Boulder City kitchen is often small, older and full of character, and the design job is to make it work harder without losing that.

Historic district exteriors
In the historic district, exterior changes to older homes generally go through the city's historic preservation review. Interior kitchen and bath work is usually yours to decide, but a new window over the sink or a changed door is not. We keep exterior changes out of the plan unless you want to pursue approval, and we flag them clearly for your contractor.
Small original footprints
Dam-era cottages and 1940s homes have compact kitchens and single small baths. We look for inches: shallower cabinets where they help, a wall oven stacked with a microwave, a pocket door, a curbless shower instead of a tub in a second bath. You see each option in 3D before deciding what is worth building.
Lake Mead water and strong sun
Boulder City draws its water from Lake Mead, which is hard, so mineral spotting shows up on dark faucets and clear glass. We favor finishes that hide it. The town sits a little higher and cooler than the Las Vegas valley, but the summer sun is still intense, so we plan shading and materials that hold their color.

Do you build or remodel in Boulder City?
No. We are a design studio and do not perform construction. We create the layout, selections, lighting plan and 3D renderings, and your own licensed contractor prices and builds it. You can check any contractor's license with the Nevada State Contractors Board at nscb.nv.gov.
Can you come to my home in Boulder City?
Yes. Boulder City is about 40 minutes from our Las Vegas studio, so the $450 design consultation can happen at your home or at our studio on South Valley View Boulevard, by appointment. If you prefer, we can also start by video: same $450 and 90 minutes, with a 5-minute iPhone LiDAR guide sent ahead so we review your scan live on the call. The fee is credited toward your design project.
Our house is from the 1930s. Can a modern kitchen fit?
Yes, if it respects the scale of the house. We often keep the room's proportions, use simple flat or shaker fronts, warm wood and honed stone, and hide modern appliances behind panels, so the kitchen feels current without fighting the architecture.
