The fee is credited toward your design package if you continue.

It often is, because you pay a fixed design fee and then collect competing bids from licensed contractors on one finished plan. Design-build bundles design into a single contractor's price, which is convenient but harder to compare. With design-only, the design fee is known up front and construction is priced separately, so you see both numbers clearly.

Week 1 is consultation and measuring, weeks 2 to 4 are 3D design, weeks 3 to 5 bring materials into the studio, and weeks 5 to 6 finish the package. Construction time is set by your contractor.

Every LV Home Concept design package includes 3D renderings, refined with you.

No. LV Home Concept is a design-only studio and holds no contractor license. We plan the layout, choose materials, design the lighting and produce 3D renderings, then hand a complete design package to your own licensed contractor, who prices, permits and builds it. You can verify any Nevada contractor's license at nscb.nv.gov.

What is the difference between an interior designer and a contractor?

An interior designer plans the space: layout, materials, lighting and how the room will look and work, usually shown in drawings and 3D renderings. A contractor builds it: demolition, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, tile and permits. In Nevada, construction requires a licensed contractor. A designer's package is what the contractor prices and builds from.

Do I need a designer before hiring a contractor in Nevada?

Not legally, but it usually pays off when the layout, look or budget is still open. A finished design lets several licensed Nevada contractors bid on the same plan, so quotes are comparable and change orders drop. If you are replacing like for like, a contractor can often price it directly. Nevada does require a licensed contractor for construction.

Henderson is inside our in-person service area, so we meet at your home or our Las Vegas studio. For Reno and other homes outside the Las Vegas valley, much of the design work, from 3D renderings to selections, can happen remotely from your LiDAR scan and photos. Ask us, and we will tell you honestly whether remote design fits your project.

A kitchen remodel usually needs permits when it moves or adds plumbing, electrical or gas, or changes walls or windows. Cosmetic work such as paint, new counters or like-for-like cabinets often does not. The permit office depends on where the home sits: City of Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas or unincorporated Clark County. Your licensed contractor pulls permits.

How do I choose kitchen and bath materials for desert heat and sun?

Choose materials that hold their color in strong sun, keep sheen low to cut glare, and tolerate very hard water. In Las Vegas that means UV-stable cabinet finishes, matte or honed surfaces, brushed metals, textured mid-tone tile, and plaster, oak and stone that age gracefully. Plan window coverings and layered, dimmable lighting alongside the finishes.

What finishes work best with Las Vegas hard water?

Las Vegas water is rated very hard, about 17 grains per gallon, so it leaves white spots and scale. Brushed or matte faucet finishes hide spots better than polished chrome, factory-coated shower glass wipes clean more easily, and quartz or granite near sinks avoids the etching that acidic cleaners cause on marble and travertine.
